Merriam Webster's dictionary defines Nuclear Winter as "the chilling of climate that is hypothesized to be a consequence of nuclear war and to result from the prolonged blockage of sunlight by high altitude dust clouds produced by nuclear explosions."
Wikipedia defines Nuclear Winter as "a predicted climatic effect of nuclear war. Severely cold weather and reduced sunlight for a period of months or years caused by detonating large numbers of nuclear weapons, especially over flammable targets such as cities, where large amounts of smoke and soot would be injected into the Earth's stratosphere."
These definitions are perfectly acceptable and legitimate understandings of the physical term nuclear winter. I see and understand a different definition as it relates to the spiritual significance. Nuclear Winter is the absolute and total devastation of deprivation. It is the vast emptiness which decomposes the spirit and will. The complete withdrawal of hope and the ability to connect with the god source. An unrelentless savagery of depression and despair that choke you in both waking and sleeping hours. The passage of time in which we transition from death of the old self to birth of the new. The heavy darkness and blinding numbness that rest within. Lastly, it is the raw peeling back of ones self.
Each of us in our own time will experience a Nuclear Winter. The exactness of the definition is not important. We will have independent understandings of the spiritual desolation which ensues. The biggest question is how do we survive waking death?
